Interview about technical translation
I was recently interviewed on a programme about technical translation, along with two other highly specialised translators with a technical background.
The programme forms part of a YouTube channel dedicated to translation, aimed primarily at translators who are starting out in the industry.
If you’d like to know a bit more about me, in the video below I talk about the following:
3:33 How I got into translation
4:30 Background needed for technical translation
10:45 How to get clients (since the audience is mainly new translators)
17:10 Which is more important, technical knowledge or translation skills?
20:40 Document formats and the software required for translating technical documents (known as CAT tools)
23:10 Advice for new translators

However, if you’d rather read than watch, in this article I provide more information about what’s required to be a good technical translator.
