English <> Spanish intensive interpretation course

In addition to my translation work, I also interpret for small groups; i.e. I translate orally between English and Spanish at business meetings, training courses, audits, trade fair visits, etc. For example, during this internal audit of a nuclear power plant.

Given my physics degree and experience in engineering, quality and management, I interpret at meetings with content related to these areas. See here for more information about my training and career.

To further develop my skills, in July I undertook a month-long practical course in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting at the prestigious Estudio Sampere school.

My main objective with this course was to feel more confident, to be able to memorise longer sentences and to continue “getting the hang of it”, to be as prepared as possible for any unforeseen events.

I chose this particular course because of its practicality and the fact that it is taught by experienced working interpreters.

It ran throughout July and was taught in a small group, with practical work to carry out at home. It was an intensive course that obliged me to reduce my technical translation work for the month, but it was an invaluable experience that I am sure will be reflected in my future work.
